Established in the Dvaravati period, Nakhon Nayok is an ancient town over 900 years old.

The province and town are named after an old fort town of the Ayutthaya dynasty during the reign of King U-Thong and is home to some of Thailand's most beautiful waterfalls and natural scenery.
