Hat Cha-am
Petchaburi's main tourist destination is 40 km south from the main town. As the first major beach resort heading south from Bangkok, Cha-am is a regular spot for holidaying Thais but is now also becoming more popular with foreigners as well.

The beach itself is around 3km long and is pure white sand. The beach front road is scattered with hotels and guesthouse all offering clean rooms for around 300-800 Baht.

Notably smaller than Hua-Hin, just down the road in Prachuab province, Cha-am is slowly being built up as a fully fledged international resort, with more and more luxury hotels and resort complexes.

Kaeng Krachan National Park
Kaeng Krachan is Thailand's biggest national park and certainly one of the most beautiful. It has some great spots for camping and also some bungalow accommodation is available.

In the park area there are lakes, camp grounds and numerous wildlife displays giving information on the species found inside.

On a clear day you get a superb view of the mountain range that seperates Thailand from Myanmar. A good two or three days will give a good time frame to enjoy the beauty of Kaeng Krachan.

Tham Khao Yoi

Khao Wang
King Mongkut was very fond of Khao Wang so he commanded a palace built on top of it in 1860 to be used for vacationing. He named it Phra Nakhon Khiri but Petchaburi inhabitants call it "Khao Wang".

Nowadays Khao Wang is Phra Nakhon Khiri National Museum, open to the public from 09.00-16.00 hours every day except Monday and Tuesday. The entrance fee is 10Baht. To get up to the top you can either walk or take the recently built cable car.

Khao Bandai
It This is a rather small hill, only 120 metres high. An ancient monastery built in the Ayutthaya period, Wat Khao Bandai, sits at the top. There are several caves on this hill such as Tham Prathun, Tham Phra Chao Sua and Tham Phra Puttha Saiyat.

Tham Khao Luang
The cave is located on Khao Luang Hill which is only 92 metres high.Regarded as the most important cave in Petchaburi because it houses a dressing Buddha image cast by the royal command of King Chulalongkon as a dedication to King Nang Klao and King Mongkut.

To the right of Khao Luang, at the foot of the hill, there is a large monastery called Wat Tham Klaep with a very large multipurpose hall. The wooden door panels in the Ubosot are beautifully carved.

Hat Chao Samran
This beach used to be a famous seaside resort in the old days. Legend says that King Naresuan the Great and King Eka Thotsarot used to make royal visits here.

They enjoyed the beauty of this beach so very much that they spent many nights there causing the villagers to call it the "Beach of Royal Leisure"

Laem Luang Beach
4km from Hat Chao Samran is Laem Luang Beach, a white sandy beach 2km long.

Hat Puktian
7km further is Hat Puktian which is the latest popular beach in Petchaburi.
