Initially
established between 877 - 882 A.D. on the
bank of Tha Chin River, Suphanburi
is named after the 2,000 who entered monkhood
- Song Phan Buri (city of two thousand).

King
U Thong moved the city to the southern bank
and finally named Suphanburi under the reign
