Pattaya
has a wealth of sports and activities to keep
adventure seekers happy. Most notably, scuba diving
is big business in these parts, with numerous
shop offering a full range of courses as well
as fun dives for those with experience.
For
those who want to stay above the blue stuff, there
are also a few water skiing operators and sailing
clubs.
Away
from the water, Pattaya has some stunning public
golf courses and a couple of championship courses.
Club hire is available but if you have your own
equipment you'll probably be able to knock a couple
off your handicap!
Scuba
Diving
Pattaya's dive sites are around the "Far Islands",
a small ring of islands just over 20km from the
mainland. Highlights include soft and hard corals,
a large variety of marine fish and even a couple
of wreck dives!
The
"Petchaburi Bremen", an old freighter
21m down and the "Hardeep" is a 60m
cargo ship sunk just after World War II. Sadly
the "Hardeep" is steadily collapsing
after nearly 70 years on the seabed and the stern
of the wreck is held up by just one sagging support
column.
