Koh Samui

Koh Samui | Where To Stay | Beaches | Sports & Activities | How To Get Here

The beautiful island of Koh Samui is one of Thailand's premier destinations for both packages and backpackers.

The two main beaches, Chaweng and Lamai on the east coast, are now fully fledged tourist havens with luxury resort complexes, numerous bars and restaurants, car and bike rental, plus just about any entertainment you need.

Not many real low price places are left due to Koh Samui's popularity but Thailand's 3rd largest island is definately worth a visit. There are still a few bargains to be found for accommodation but these are gradually moving out to make way for more development.

While Chaweng and Lamai are the best nightspots, the best mid-range places to stay are on Bophut, Big Buddha and Maenam beaches on the northern coast.

The island is crowded virtually all year round but there are still a few secluded bays where you can escape the crowds and away from the main centres there are some beautiful spots to explore.

Dive shops are numerous and offer good deals for trips to nearby Koh Tao, some of the best scuba diving in Asia.
