Of Interest Wat
Tha Luang
This monastery is on the west bank of Mae Nam
Nan near the Provincial Hall and houses a bronze
Buddha image of Chiang Saen period, cast in the
attitude of subduing evil, in the main shrine hall.
This
image is believed to have been brought from the
north by Khun Phaen, to be enshrined here. The name
of the Buddha image is "Luang Pho Phet" and is highly
respected by Phitchit inhabitants.
Wat
Khao Rup Chang
This temple is built on a hilltop where white rocks
stack up forming an elephant figure. A walking Buddha
and replica of Buddha's Footprints are housed in
this monastery.
The
Old City Park
It is believed that this area used to be the old
Phichit town approximately 900 years ago. In the
park, there is and arboretum, a peaceful relaxing
place for local people.
In
addition there is Ko Si Mala, Tham Chalawan and
sculptures of important features from a famous piece
of Thai literature, "Kraithong".

Nakhon Chum
This is an ancient monastery located in the
area of the old city. It had been utilized as a
place where an oath, including a water drinking
ceremony, took place in the old days. This is also
home to an 800-year-old Buddha image.

Pho Prathap Chang
An ancient monastery surrounded by walls and once
used by King Narai the Great as a camp site for
his troops in a northern action against the Burmese.
King Sua or King Sanphet VIII was born here.
Phra
Buddha Ket Mongkhon
Known as "Luang Pho To Taphan Hin", this is the
largest sitting Buddha in the North. The construction
was completed in 1970 and its name was bestowed
by H.M. the King as "Phra Buddha Ket Mongkhon"
Bung
Sifai
This 12,000 rai swamp is a fish breeding source
surrounded by lotus, grown by the people for use
of its flowers and leaves. It is a great spot for
relaxing with a picnic.
The
Phichit Crocodile Auditorum
Constructed in the shape of a crocodile, this is
a major tourist spot. The main part of the building
is the 'Stomach' which contains at most 30 people
in an air-conditioned hall.

Annual Boat Racing
Taking place on every first Saturday and Sunday
of September at Wat Tha Luang on the bank of Mae
Nam Nan, Phichit is no different to other northern
provinces in it's love of boating.
The
main features of the festival are boat racing and
a boat procession beauty contest which is both colourful
and great fun.
