Luang
Pho Phra Sai
The major Buddha Image of the province is enshrined
at Wat Pho Chai. Comparatively small, with only
a spread of about one metre across the knees, it
is thought to have been cast in Lan Chang. The annual
Soeng Bung Fai, or Rocket Festival, is held on the
day of the Full Moon in April.
The
Prap Ho Monument
Celebrating the victory over the insurrection
by Ho tribesmen, this monument was built in 1886
in front of the town hall. Enlarged and renovated
in 1951, it contains the remains of those officials
who lost their lives in bringing an end to the rebellion.
Phra
Chao Ong Thue
Another major Buddha image which is 4-metres high
with a knee-spread of 3.29 metres. Enshrined at
Wat Nam Mong on the Nong Khai-Chiang Mai highway,
it is believed to have been cast in 1662.
Namtok
The Than Thip
This waterfall has beautiful year-round cascades
and is a great spot for relaxing with a picnic.

Hin Mak Peng
This temple stands on Mekong river bank surrounded
with some spectacular scenery. It is a peaceful
place where priests come to practise their meditation.
