Buddhism is the Thailand religion, but contrary to some belief there is complete religious freedom.

His Majesty the King, Buddhist as required by the constitution, is the protector of all faiths.

Approximately 95% of the population is devout Theravada Buddhist.

The second largest religion is Islam, around 4%, mostly in four southern provinces.

Christians comprise of less than 1% of the population. These Christian organizations run several hospitals and schools.
