There are still many places for budget travellers and although more expensive than most of the country you can still find good value rooms.

Update:
The Tsunami on 26th Dec. 2004 devestated Phuket, with more than 1,000 people tragically losing their lives, thousands more being affected. The local community in Phuket would like to let people know that whilst the Tsunami victims will never be forgotten, the town is once again open for visitors.
