Thong National Marine Park
Comprising of more than 40 islands northwest
of Koh Samui and covering over 250 sq. km. The islands
are large, towering, rock masses encircled by crystal
clear water. The most popular are Mae Ko, which
has a beautiful beach and an emerald saltwater lake,
Wua Talap, site of park HQ and Sam Sao, with it's
coral reefs and huge rock arch.
Khao
Sok National Park
A forest-covered hill national park with an
area of over 160,000 acres. Many species of rare
wildlife are still to be found. With a peaceful
atmosphere which is ideal for picnics and relaxing.
There are privately-run bungalows at the "Tree Top
Guest House".
Khao
Tha Pet Forest Park
From the top of Khao Tha Pet you can get a
bird's eyes view of Surat Thani township area.
Phra
Boromthat Chaiya
In Chaiya District just north of Surat Thani
town, this ancient pagoda houses Lord Buddha relics.
The structure is believed to have been constructed
during the Sivichaya period over 1,200 years ago.
Chaiya has numerous other historic artifacts.
Suan Mokkha Phalaram
This is otherwise known as Wat Thang Nam Lat,
a monastic community located in a beautiful and
peaceful natural park where Buddhists go for meditation
practice. There are several teaching pavillions
with many paintings and poems illustrating moral
teachings known in Thai as "Entertainment Houses
for the Soul".

The scenery around the dam area is spectaculatr
and a staying here for a day or so is very relaxing!
Mu
Ban Phumriang
Heading north from the main town this tiny
village has a quaint atmosphere and is renowned
for is hand woven silk.
