💡 Pro Tip: Withdraw More, Less Often

The ฿220 fee is fixed — it does not matter if you withdraw ฿500 or ฿30,000. So make every withdrawal count.

5 × ฿2,000 withdrawals

5 × ฿220 ATM fees = ฿1,100 in fees alone

฿370

🏧 About Thai ATM Fees

Since 2016, all Thai ATMs charge a fixed ฿220 surcharge to foreign cards — this is mandatory across all banks (Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn, SCB, etc.) and cannot be avoided.

On top of this, your home bank may charge a foreign transaction fee (typically 1–3%) and apply a poor exchange rate (adding a hidden 2–3.5% spread). Combined, a typical bank could cost you ฿500–700 extra on a ฿10,000 withdrawal.

The best strategy: use a travel card like Wise or Revolut, and withdraw large amounts infrequently to minimise how often you pay the ฿220 flat fee.
